Dr. Raviv is honored to be a Charter Fellow of the World College of Refractive Surgery’s inaugural class.

New subspecialties are a part of the evolution of medicine. Ophthalmology became the first specialty board in 1915 when the American Board of Ophthalmology was created as a certifying body.

In 2023, the WCRS is setting the standards and certifications for the newly recognized subspecialty of refractive surgery.

Exciting times as as our specialty continues to advance procedures which make humanity’s reliance on externally worn optical prostheses (ie glasses and contacts) a relic of history.

Dr. Tal Raviv was honored to be the first surgeon to implant the B&LEnvista Aspire lens in NYC. This Aspire is the newest FDA approved lens in the “enhanced monofocal” category, which allows for broader depth of focus than a standard monofocal.
